Can we help everyone?
In a perfect world, yes. While our goal is to help as many people as possible, we know that our practice is built on relationships and hard work. For this reason, we start with a consultation. This hour long visit enables us to not only get to know each other, but also helps us determine if we are a good fit for each other based on your unique health goals. We want you to have life-changing results. Although the level of wellness attained in our programs is directly related to the effort put in by our clients, we are committed to walking with you every step of the way on your health journey.
Do you take insurance?
While we do accept health insurance, we have found insurance coverage to be more and more restrictive when it comes to basic nutrition counseling such as weight loss or sugar control. Insurance does provide coverage for things like pills and procedures, but those are things we hope to help you discontinue and avoid. The majority of our functional medicine services include in-depth testing that reveals the root cause of symptoms and are not covered by insurance. If you have health insurance, we encourage you to contact your provider to see what coverage you have.
Is it affordable?
Yes. We strive to save people from the endless cycle of “sick care” and help them reach their goal of long term wellness. Our programs are custom designed to enable people to save a lifetime of expensive prescriptions, treatments and surgeries. To optimize affordability, we have put payment plan options in place to allow you to invest in your health now to enjoy the long term benefits of healing.
What if I live out of town?
Distance is not an obstacle for us. We have designed an entire virtual program for remote access to our out-of-town clients. In order to build a relationship and maintain communication, we offer virtual and telephone calls, weekly check-in emails, video training, and any other ways of contact you may need or prefer. Wherever you are, we are committed to be there for you!
How long is the program?
Our programs typically range between 3 and 9 months. The length depends on where you are in your health journey, along with how long we anticipate you to progress. On average, we design a program for at least six months.
How much time will it take me each day?
We have found that radical life changes typically don’t seem to last.. Take the health retreat model for example. While away you may learn new habits, but those habits are quickly dissolved once you come back to your regular life. We formulate a plan to your lifestyle, instead of forcing a plan that is unsustainable for you. We want to teach you how to incorporate new healthy habits within the day-to-day activities of your regular life. We want you to work smarter, not harder. That is how real change happens. Why? Because these habits are making life easier and more enjoyable.
What do you actually do?
At Functional Nutrition Resources, we run all-inclusive programs for people who are looking for a long term health solution. We exist to solve the “why” behind all of your symptoms. This root cause approach is the foundation of functional medicine. Most of our clients are looking to get their lives back after pursuing what seems to be an endless cycle of conventional health care models and break free from continuous treatments, prescriptions and surgeries. We move past the guesswork and base our programs on test results of the unique biochemistry of our clients. Once we have identified the root cause of your symptoms, we can then build a specific plan of action, equipping you with the education and resources you need to achieve true healing.
Do I have to go to the gym?
We recommend exercises that are appropriate with your level. Going to the gym isn’t always the right fit for everyone. Once you find what works for you, we can help you build a fitness routine.
Can I do it? Is it manageable?
Absolutely! We work with you every step of the way. That’s how we get the results we do. We have found that most clients experience a major reduction in symptoms within the first 2 weeks and are motivated to learn and grow with the program. We understand your journey to wellness is a process and we do our best to educate you and equip you to continue in your progress.
What if I travel?
No worries! You’ll just need to do a little planning and have access to a fridge. Also, supplements can serve as a nutritional safety net. The point is, the program is completely manageable while away from home.
Is now the right time?
Yes! Life is busy and there is no perfect time of year to get healthy. There will always be excuses. Getting healthy requires work. So, if you’re not ready to do the work, now isn’t the greatest time. The choice is yours to no longer be miserable. You are worth it!
What if I go to someone’s house for dinner?
Depending on the relationship, communicating your situation beforehand is key. As long as you bring enough food for you and to share, you should be covered. The primary reason for your visit is to spend time with you, not whether or not you eat the same things. As long as you communicate clearly, there should be no hesitation to attend.
Can I eat from a diet program?
While you might benefit from something like Jenny Craig or Weight Watchers for a little while, programs like that are not sustainable. Once you go back to your old ways of eating, things can spiral out of control quickly and oftentimes can lead to worse conditions than before you started the program. Our goal is to educate you on how to shop, which foods are best for your unique biochemistry and most importantly, why. We want you to be able to live within the parameters of your own life.
Do I have to take supplements?
No. Not unless there is a specific reason based on test results. We wish we could get everything we need from food, but unfortunately the soil today is different than it was even a few decades ago, so supplements for some people will be recommended but will never be required.
Can I eat out?
Yes! Most every restaurant is happy to accommodate to custom orders - the customer is always right after all! We will teach you all of our tips and tricks as well.
How much time does it take to prep food?
We have streamlined the process of food prep down to less than 2 hours a week. We are happy to share with you tons of easy delicious ideas to make for both you and your family to enjoy.
Can I talk to my doctor about it?
You are welcome to talk with your doctor. Keep in mind most doctors are not trained in nutrition but rather to offer diagnoses and write prescriptions. We are happy to work with your doctor and will not do anything against their recommendations.
